Sir Roger Scruton and the Conservative Case for Environmentalism

NewsMiner approaches the world pragmatically, and in no way is this an endorsement of a political party or an ideology. NewsMiner values honesty and avoids overblown rhetoric and slick PR.

Sir Roger Scruton exemplifies this with clear thinking that criticizes and counters the current environmental rhetoric with a local approach and conservative thinking, and ultimately makes the point, a conservative approach can offer solutions to real environmental problems without radical steps that alter society, and more often than not, Conservatives have been the true environmentalists.

Roger Scruton is an English philosopher and writer who sees the positive aspects of the western world and advocates in his writing that we should not throw the baby out with the bathwater so to speak, when we come into contact with the glaring errors and crimes of Western civilization.

He debunks much of the demagoguery around current environmental rhetoric, and makes a principled case against global action, when local efforts are more effective. A good read for anyone, looking to counter the prevailing hysterics around climate change and the radical changes governments propose, when there are better solutions at hand.

His approach is a breath of fresh air and his writing can help close the gap between two seemingly at odds, ideological camps
.
As is the NewsMiner stance to avoid rhetoric and overblown adulation, it is sometimes better to let ideas and their authors speak for themselves.
